I would like to thank Travel Mongolia for a great Golden Eagle trip in Western Mongolia. The professionalism, integrity, and pro-customer approach is something that I did not expect but deeply appreciate. Elaman was always quick to respond to our questions, accommodating of our requests, and went above and beyond to make sure our trip was a successful one. We later learned that the friendliness of our team was nothing unusual for the part of Mongolian we were in. Everywhere we went, we were always welcomed, even if we showed up unannounced. The Mongolian Khazaks enjoy visits, and take pride in rolling out the various snacks, candies, and milk tea that they always seem to have on hand. But we were there for the eagles, and my goodness, what an amazing experience it was to get to ride with Ardahk and his Golden Eagle, Ayaylum. The videos and photos tell a more compelling story than mere words can, so I’ve attached those here. If you like riding, Travel MGL's itinerary is even more perfect, since we’re out riding every day. My daughter and I are pretty experienced riders, so we got the faster mounts. But my wife and son were less comfortable on horseback, so they got the mellow steads, and had wranglers assigned to them. The rides into the mountains were an important part of our trip, as it afforded us vistas that were breathtakingly beautiful, especially on our last day which brought the season’s first snowfall. I should provide a note of caution, though. Your are on the steppes. It’s rural. So think of it as a camping expedition, with a few extra perks. Not quite glamping, but much better than sleeping in a tent. Power is provided by generator only for a few hours a day in the evening, milk is well, milked from a cow every morning, water is drawn from a well and boiled, drinking water and all other supplies needed for the traveler is brought in from Oolgi, the toilet is an outhouse (but with one heck of a view) showers are manual, as in, someone has to draw the well water, heated up over a furnace, and poured into a tank to run the shower. It's a lot of work for the team, which is why we used the showers sparingly. So while we loved our experience, please understand what you are signing up for. We think it's worth every penny, but make sure you go in with your eyes open!
